SDUT held a 2020 summer-time work seminar in the Lecture Hall of No.3 Teaching Building on September 5th, aiming to study Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, implement the spirit of the Shandong Provincial Higher Education Symposium on high-quality development and the reading class of the Theory Learning Center of the Provincial Party Committee, focus on the new situation and new tasks of high-quality development of higher education in the new era, and carry out discussions and exchanges in combination with the key points in the development of the university.
The seminar was attended by SDUT leadership, including LYU Chuanyi, HU Xingyu, LIU Guohua, ZHANG Xiangyun, WANG Libin, WEI Xiuting, ZHA Yuxi, ZHANG Jinsheng, as well as special assistant to the president, all cadres of middle level, committee members of the School Academic Commission and chairmen of the Professors Commission of each school.
HU Xingyu, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of SDUT, on behalf of the Party Committee and SDUT administration, summed up and notified the summer-time work, and also arranged the priority of the fall and winter semester.
HU Xingyu systematically sorted out the work from nine aspects, including overcoming difficulties in epidemic prevention and control, smooth progress in double-high application, continuous improvement in talent recruitment and guidance, full preparation for education and teaching, solid progress in scientific research and social service, strict standardization in education management and service, stable and orderly enrollment work, potent logistics support, and solid and effective theoretical study.
HU also proposed eight focuses in the fall and winter semester. First, continuous efforts should be made to accurately and regularly prevent and control the epidemic. Second, we will continue to follow up the application and selection of Double High programs. Third, the 14th five-year Plan should be worked out in a scientific way. Fourth, endeavors should be made to enhance faculty construction. Fifth, all-out effort should be made to improve the level of cultivation and teaching. Sixth, scientific research and social service work should be promoted to a new level. Seventh, close attention should be paid to the ideological and political instruction relating to Party construction. Eighth, we should continue to deepen reform.
In the seminar, 11 functional departments and 24 school heads delivered speeches.
LYU Chuanyi, secretary of the Party Committee of SDUT, made a concluding speech. He conveyed the spirit of reading class of the Theoretical Learning Center of the Provincial Party Committee in 2020. Combining with his own thinking and reality in the development of SDUT, he expressed his ideas in such aspects as the connotation of Marxism, adherence to the people-centered development thought and strengthening the construction of organizations and cadres.
Centering on the connotation of Marxism, he briefly reviewed Marx's great, revolutionary and fighting life, and figured out the differences between Marx's manuscripts and Marxism, and discussed the scientific and revolutionary nature of Marxism. He pointed out that Marxism is based on facts, and with regularity, it has been proved by practice, and accords with all characteristics of scientificity. Marx was a revolutionary, who created the revolutionary theory, founded the revolutionary organization and took part in the revolutionary struggle. The revolutionary nature of Marxism lies in its critical spirit. Marxism has the excellent qualities of self - criticism, self - correction and self - improvement. If we do not adhere to Marxism, we will go astray. If Marxism is not advanced with the times, it will become rigid dogma.
LYU Chuanyi elucidated historical materialism by demonstrating the relationship between productive forces and relations of production, economic foundation and superstructure. After the interpretation of “two musts” and “two nevers”, he analyzed the long course of communism and the reasons why capitalism has not perished yet. He pointed out that we need to have a thorough understanding of the connotation of Marxism and strengthen our confidence in the path, theory, system and culture of socialism.
Centering on the guidance of people-centered philosophy, LYU proposed the essential issues of developing for whom and on whom. Then how to implement the people-centered development philosophy? First, to serve faculty and students. Even the trivial matters of teachers and students should draw major attention of cadres, and we will strive to practice our sense of purpose. Second, to rely on faculty and students. We should often go among teachers and students, get the information and ask about their needs and ideas. Third, to focus on education and guidance. We should try our best to solve teachers and students' difficulties in work, life and study, meanwhile we should perform our duties well and strengthen education and guidance.
Focusing on enhancing the construction of organizations and cadres, LYU interpreted the party's organizational line in the new era and pointed out that this is the fundamental principle for schools to strengthen the construction of organizations and cadres.
With regard to strengthening the construction of organizational system as the key point, LYU said the construction of organizational structure, organizational system and process should be strengthened. Meanwhile, the construction of assessment system should also be enhanced to improve the assessment system of primary-level cadres.
With regard to cultivating high-quality cadres who are loyal, clean-handed and responsible, LYU stressed that cadres should correctly view the advance and retreat. Party organizations at all levels should strengthen the education and training of cadres, and relevant functional departments should establish a training system to help cadres grow well and quickly. Cadres should be loyal, clean-handed and responsible.
With regard to gathering outstanding talents in all aspects of patriotism and dedication, LYU pointed out that talents should be accepted and included with a broad mind, and talents should be warmed and cared for with zealous services, so that they can fully exert their talents.
With regard to recruiting people on the basis of their ability and morality, LYU pointed out that in selecting cadres and bringing in talents, morality should be given top priority, so that both talents and positions could be matched.
