On the morning of April 22nd, SDUT held a talent work promotion meeting in the conference room on the 9th floor of Hongyuan Building to issue certificates to teachers selected for the talent project at or above the provincial level in 2020 and deployed the next step of talent work. LYU Chuanyi, secretary of the Party committee of SDUT, HU Xingyu, deputy secretary of the Party committee and president of SDUT, attended the meeting. LIU Guohua, member of the standing committee of the Party committee and vice president of SDUT, presided over the meeting. The heads of the Talent Office, Library, the Qi Culture Research Institute, and the deans of schools joined in the meeting.
LYU Chuanyi made a speech, and expressed full recognition and sincere gratitude to relevant departments and units for their efforts and contributions to the talent work in overcoming the COVID-19 epidemic in the past year. He pointed out that in the next step, the whole university should recognize the current situation of the talent team and the requirements of the construction of a high-level university, find the gap between advanced universities, add pressure for ourselves, and strive to overcome the adverse effects brought by the location disadvantage. All schools should learn from each other’s good experience and practices, take effective measures to strengthen the introduction and cultivation of talents, and do a solid job in the work of talents throughout the year.
LYU Chuanyi put forward four requirements about the talent work.
First, we needed to attract high-level talents in a targeted way. During the 14th Five-Year Plan, we should pay more attention to the quality and the matching degree with disciplines and majors on the premise of guaranteeing a certain quantity. On the premise of ensuring quantity, we should strictly control quality. According to the needs of discipline and professional development, we should introduce high-level talents accurately to ensure that the introduced talents can play a leading role or can be assembled into the existing team to work.
Second, we should give full play to the role of existing talents. Relevant departments and units should conduct special studies on how to make good use of talents, build a stage, produce conditions and solve difficulties for them to play their roles, so as to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to grow and develop in SDUT.
Third, we should take teachers’ ethics as the first standard. In the process of introducing talents, we must strictly check the entrance of talents and conduct an all-round investigation on their political quality, ideological and moral character, and cooperative spirit. To the existing teachers, we should strengthen education and guidance, standardize their words and deeds in accordance with the standards, so as to be good examples. Teachers who have lost their moral standards should be dealt with seriously and never tolerated. All units should strengthen supervision and inspection, earnestly perform the educational management functions, to ensure that no problems.
Fourth, we should strengthen the leadership in the construction of the teaching staff. All units should earnestly strengthen the leadership of teacher team construction, formulate and improve relevant policies and measures, not only to do a good job in service work, but also in education management, and strive to build a high-level teacher team.
HU Xingyu presented certificates and flowers to the teachers selected for the 2020 Talents Program at or above the provincial level, and congratulated them on behalf of SDUT.
