From August 15th to 17th, SDUT held the 2022 summer work seminar in the Art Center Auditorium to seriously study Xi Jinping’s thoughts on socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era, implement the spirit of the 12th Party Congress of Shandong Province, accurately grasp the new requirements and tasks of promoting the high-quality development of higher education in the new era, focus on the 14th Five-Year Plan, keep an eye on the targets and functions of annual work, exchange and discuss practical measures to promote critical work.
University leaders HU Xingyu, LI Yuxia, DENG Changliang, YANG Yun, SU Shoubo, NIE Faliang, GUO Qingbing, CHEN Shengwei, CUI Huanyong, CONG Hailin, and CHEN Jing attended the meeting. The special assistants to the president, all middle-level cadres, members of the Academic Committee of SDUT, directors of the Professor Committees of each academic school, and assistants to the deans (heads of offices and departments) participated in the meeting.
HU Xingyu, secretary of the Party Committee of SDUT, made a speech. He stressed that studying, publicizing, and implementing the spirit of the 12th Shandong Provincial Party Congress was an important political task for the whole school at present and in the future. We must strive to run the requirements of the Shandong Provincial Party Congress through all aspects of the entire process of running and administering the school. The summer seminar for Party secretaries and presidents of colleges and universities of Shandong province had necessary guidance and reference significance for us. We should earnestly implement it in the development concept, planning and action.
HU made a systematic exposition on focusing on development, striving to create a new situation of building a high-level teaching and research university with distinctive characteristics. He pointed out that, first, we should strengthen Party building and improve the combat effectiveness of Party organizations and Party members and cadres. Second, we should devote ourselves to development. Third, we should adhere to the fundamental task of building morality and cultivating people. Fourth, we should guard the bottom line of security and stability. Fifth, we should grasp the main factor to enhance the whole. Sixth, we should strengthen the driving force of reform. Seventh, we should gather talents and hoist our abilities. Eighth, we should expand financial resources and break bottlenecks. Ninth, we should seek characteristics through deep integration.
HU stressed we should improve our ideological understanding and do an excellent job in the preparatory work for the Party Congress with high quality and efficiency. First, we should strengthen organizational leadership and strictly implement responsibilities. Second, we should strengthen coordination and promote work with high efficiency. Third, we should pay attention to pooling wisdom and carefully draft the work reports of the “two committees.” Fourth, we should strictly enforce standards, procedures, and disciplines and complete all tasks.
LI Yuxia, the president, summarized and reported the work in the first half of 2022 and the summer vacation, arranged and deployed the work in the second half of 2022.
LI systematically summarized and sorted out the work in the first half of 2022 and the summer vacation from nine aspects, including campus epidemic prevention and control, discipline construction, talent cultivation, talent team construction, scientific research and service to society, student education services, assessment and evaluation reform, comprehensive service guarantee, and full and strict governance over the Party.
LI Yuxia emphasized that in the second half year, based on a successful Fourth Party Congress, we should act in accordance with the development goals and the annual work goals and tasks of high-level universities, in combination with the 14th Five-Year Plan, follow and take advantage of the trend, seize the opportunities and requirements under the new situation, vigorously emancipate our minds, pay close attention to the implementation of work, and ensure the completion of the annual tasks and goals. First, we must do a good job in epidemic prevention and control. Second, we should do well in education and teaching. Third, we should further promote the strengthening strategy of advantageous disciplines and the precise cultivation of doctoral programs. Fourth, we should continue to do excellent personnel work. Fifth, we should advance scientific research and social service with high quality. Sixth, we should continue to boost the reform of assessment and evaluation. Seventh, we should guarantee campus security and stability. Eighth, we must ensure the successful holding of the Fourth Party Congress.
The seminar invited three experts, including HUANG Bailian, former executive vice president and secretary of the Party Committee of the National Academy of Education Administration, ZHANG Junchao, vice president of the School of Education of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and ZHANG Xueji, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and vice president of Shenzhen University. They respectively focus on “Promoting the Great Project of Party Construction in an All-round Way to Improve the Organizational Power of Grass-roots Party Organizations - In-depth Study of Xi Jinping’s Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era”, “Student-Centered University Teaching Reform and Evaluation of Learning Effects” and “Building First-Class Disciplines and Creating First-Class Universities - Experience and Reflections on the Construction of Disciplines and Degree Sites”, and made wonderful counseling reports. DENG Changliang, deputy secretary of SDUT, CHEN Shengwei and CONG Hailin, members of the Standing Committee and vice presidents of SDUT, respectively presided over the report meeting.
At the seminar, the heads of 14 departments and 25 academic schools made exchange speeches one after another, summarizing the work progress and the major problems in the first half year, introducing the work plan for the second half year, and reporting the development goals and ideas for the next five years.
